Hans Christian Andersen
As a child, I can remember loving to imagine myself very, very small. So small that I could see up close all the fascinating tiny things of this world. In my imagination, whole little worlds revealed themselves, entire cities and towns, homes and gardens sprang to life all around me – just too tiny to be seen from my great big perspective.
I believe that this is one of the reasons that Thumbelina as become a beloved story, passed along by generations of parents who were once children imagining the tiny worlds to be found beyond the sight of us big people. This edition is a joyous delving into those wee worlds – the illustrations are just the sort of warm, inviting pictures that invite us into the small places and give us room to wander about.
Ages 5 and up.
